Echo Garden

Echo Garden: dense grid of shifting text characters resolving into a figure

Echo Garden is a generative p5.js environment that grows in response to time and interaction. Text stands in for pixels: words, stray phrases, fragments left behind by whoever passed through, densifying into a shifting character grid until a figure resolves out of it, the way an image resolves out of noise the longer you look.

Visitors could add to it too. A prompt at the edge of the installation read "add a thought, type below or scan QR": type directly into the piece, or scan the code to add from your own phone. A button marked Plant submits it. Echo Garden became a community garden this way: not one voice growing the piece, but everyone who passed through it, each thought folding into the next visitor's view of a digital garden that kept growing after they left.
