Paper Trail

Dozens of rice-paper forms hung on wire under a chicken-wire canopy, catching projected color at night

Overhead, a second Cucalorus installation answered #0000FF Velvet in a different material: dozens of rice-paper forms, hand-cut and hung on wire beneath a canopy of chicken wire, each catching a projected fragment of a detective film. Visitors walked underneath rather than stepped inside; their footsteps drove the visuals, breaking a scene into pieces and reassembling it as they moved.

Where Velvet was a room to sit inside, this piece was a path to walk under: the same footage, the same night, read through the body instead of held still around it.
